The affluent master-planned community of Summerlin got its name from the paternal grandmother of Howard Hughes after he passed away in 1976. When Hughes purchased the 25,000 acre land in 1952 he originally called it “Husite”. The development of Properties In Summerlin communities started in 1990.
Properties In Summerlin consist of Villages that are managed by three major Master Associations, Summerlin North, Summerlin South, and Summerlin West. Two of the villages (Sun City Summerlin and Siena) are age-restricted and are not part of the Master Association.
Properties In Summerlin – is situated within both an incorporated municipality and unincorporated area. The area north of Charleston Boulevard is within the city Las Vegas, while property south of Charleston Boulevard lies within unincorporated Clark County.
Residents of Summerlin can use Bicycle lanes which areprovided on most major roads of the communities. As the gateway into Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, Summerlin is frequented daily by many cyclists heading to the Conservation Area and using the community’s far-reaching trail system.
Summerlin boast almost 150 parks. There are more than 2 dozen community parks that a variety of recreational amenities including soccer fields, baseball and t-ball fields, football fields, basketball courts, swimming pools, playgrounds, tennis courts, community centers, volleyball courts, horshoes, bocce ball and shuffleboard courts, a tricycle course, interactive water spray features, motorized toy areas and barbecue area.
There is more than 150 miles of trail system which connects neighborhoods to several amenities throughout the communities of Summerlin. The plan is to connect these trail systems to more than 2,000 miles of regional trails.

Downtown Summerlin shopping center is an outdoor business, entertainment, fashion, and retail district that is part of mixed-use development Downtown Summerlin within the affluent community of Summerlin Nevada. The center provides about 1.6 million square feet of retail and 200,000 square feet of business space. In the middle of May 2014 it announced that the mall would be part of Downtown Summerlin and would be open October 9, 2014 with 125 stores.

Completed in 1999, Sun City Summerlin is an age-restricted community like Siena. This is Del Webb’s first venture into Southern Nevada developments for the active-retired adults. Residents must have at one owner/occupant at least 55 years old. No one can live in the property who is under the age of 19. There are more than 14,000 residents living in this 2,400 acre planned community. Almost every home is a single-story construction with living spaces ranging from 1,000 to 3,000 square feet.
